Making the Nanny part of the family is a wonderful idea and will often help with the children working with her. A problem does arise with this in that it may become more difficult to deal with problems and issues should they arise. Typically encouraging the Nanny to be part of the family while still maintaining some employer-employee model is ideal.

One of the best ways to find a Nanny is through either a child minding service or through word of mouth. One of the least effective ways to find an experienced Nanny is through newspaper or internet ads. This is simply because highly experienced Nannies rarely need to resort to responding to ads as they are already booked for a new family when their service with the current family is over.

Being a Nanny takes skill, patience and a lot of ability. There are several classes and programs that Nannies may complete including early childhood development courses, first aide and emergency response training as well as even basic education programs. Nannies with less experience but additional classwork may be terrific employees that are just getting started in the career.
